Custom bracing is a process, not a purchase. Here is exactly how it runs, from the first scan to the follow up visit.

    Assessment

    X-ray analysis, photographs, 3D limb scanning, and video of how you actually move. We gather the data before we form an opinion.

    Design review

    Steve and the design team work the fit out together before anything is made. Alignment, pressure, range, and daily use are all on the table.

    Custom build

    Carbon fibre engineered and exclusively manufactured by dedicated carbon graphite engineers, or custom 3D printed from your scan data.

    Fit and follow up

    The brace is dialled in on you, adjusted as you settle into it, and supported for the long run.

Fit is confirmed while the limb is loaded and moving, not only standing still. Hinges, straps, and alignment are dialled in against real gait.

When custom is the right call.

Premium off the shelf bracing is excellent for a great many needs. Custom earns its place when the limb, the load, or the goal falls outside what a stock shape can hold. Your prescribing clinician decides what is appropriate. Our job is to explain the options clearly and build the fit.

Custom tends to fit when

  • The limb shape is unusual, or has changed after surgery or injury.
  • Alignment needs to be held precisely over long hours of wear.
  • Off the shelf sizing has already been tried and migrates or rubs.
  • The goal is demanding work, sport, or a return to full activity.

Premium off the shelf tends to fit when

  • The need is shorter term, or part of a staged recovery.
  • Standard sizing already matches the limb well.
  • Support and compression matter more than held alignment.
  • A proven line such as DonJoy or Townsend covers the requirement.

The questions we hear most

Straight answers before you book.

Will a brace make my leg weaker?

This is the worry we hear most, and the opposite is what happens. When the limb can be loaded anatomically again, you keep using the muscles and retain the soft tissue envelope of the knee. Bracing is there so you can move, not so you can stop.

Does it have to be big and bulky?

No. Custom carbon graphite and 3D printed bracing is built to your own scan, which is exactly why it can stay light and low profile while still holding alignment. Bulk is usually a sign of a stock shape trying to cover every limb.

Will it help the pain and the instability?

The right brace, fitted properly, is aimed at both: unloading the painful side of the joint and steadying the knee so it stops giving way. What is appropriate for you is decided with your prescribing clinician after an assessment.
